3 THINGS I HAD TO UNLEARN TO FIX MY FITNESS FOUNDATION

Guys you know I’m all about becoming the best version of ourselves - so I want to share some things that I did in the past that completely wasted my time and energy.

By sharing these, I hope I can help you avoid the same mistakes I made!

1) I had a START and STOP mentality.

I thought that participating in a challenge or working out for a season would be enough to provide sustainable results.

In reality, starting and stopping was causing me to have to try to lose the same weight over again (yo-yoing). Actually integrating a daily fitness routine that I enjoy and do consistently was needed to yield lasting sustainable results.

When I realized there was no finish line I began to truly embrace the journey.

2) I didn't SCHEDULE myself.

Back then I believed that all the other things I had on the color coded calendar was more important and necessary to make things function in our home or with the children, but I was actually neglecting the most crucial part of making everything run smoothly...ME.

When I recognized that this was a form of neglect and I was fifty pounds overweight, I decided to make myself a priority again.

Adding myself to the schedule to ensure I have a healthy morning routine has become a form of self-care.

3) I was trying to OUT TRAIN my bad diet and UNDO my weekends.

I did this because I thought if I just went hard in the gym I would still get the outcome I desired...eventually.

Well it turns out that it wasted my time and delayed my results because it's just not sustainable to "go hard" all of the time and the reality is 80% of my success came when I developed a better relationship with food. Not to mention overtraining can have negative effects on your weightloss journey as well.

When I became conscious to my self soothing behavior, began to recognize food as fuel and set up some simple parameters for my lifestyle I was able to free myself from some subconscious self-sabotaging behaviors and avoid the negative emotions of food shame and guilt cycles.

Now, its your turn! What things have you done that you have come to realize that there must be a better way to achieve your wellness goals?
